>> Isha Vela: Angela, I’m so glad that you’re here today, and I think that the people who are listening are going to get so much out of this conversation, like, paradigm shifting. So thank you.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah, thanks for having me on. I love it. I love that we’ve met online. What a crazy world it is. Hey.
>> Isha Vela: Yes.
>> Angela Merzib C: Meeting people online, like having. Yeah. Doing this kind of stuff, it’s just.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah, yeah. so today we’re going to talk about branding and we’re going to talk about PMAs, which I know very little about, so I’m going to ask a lot of questions. But before we get into that, I, I. Yeah, so maybe, maybe we talk just briefly about what PMAs are, and then I want to go back into your story about, like, what, what fueled your journey into learning more about that.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah, absolutely. So pma, what that stands for is a Private Member Agreement, or, sorry, private Member Association.
>> Isha Vela: Okay.
>> Angela Merzib C: And, basically it’s a, a structure, a type of structure for your business. So it’s a lawful private structure, and there’s a difference between lawful and legal. So we can go later. Yeah, there’s words, definitions matter in this.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: So it’s a lawful private structure, and it operates privately in the private realm. So, what most people don’t know is like, everything has a private domain. So there’s a public side and a private side to, to banking, to all kinds of things. Right. To business. So a PMA functions within the boundaries of contract law and common law, and we can. I know these are all words that. Yeah, to some people, but I can explain more later. yes, but it just, it doesn’t cross those public boundaries. It stays in the private, and so it separates itself. And, really you’re, you’re creating your own little jurisdictional bubble around, and it’s almost like you’re creating your own little nation because you’re creating your own governing structures within it.
>> Isha Vela: Okay.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah, it can feel a little complicated, but that’s the, you know, overview, definition of what it is. And so you can create your own rules basically within that.
>> Isha Vela: Okay. I Like that already. All right, I’m taking notes. okay, so. So I would love to hear, now that we have this, like, a little intro of sort of the juiciness that we’re going to get into. I want you to sort of share, like, what was your journey? Because I’m. I’m guessing. Right. I may be wrong, but I’m guessing you had a regular business and you’re like, wait, I can do this. Right. And that opened up a hole.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah.
>> Isha Vela: So start from the beginning.
>> Angela Merzib C: Okay. Yeah. Yeah, you’re right. I just kind of did business like everybody else. I was never incorporated or, you know, llc. Ah. Or anything like that, but I just operated as a sole proprietor, and that’s on the public side as well. so I’ve been in business for about 18 years now, and just as a sole proprietor, doing my thing. and then in 2019, I partnered up with a business partner. She was out of the United States. I’m in Canada, and we were doing our thing together, and it was going great. And, really, our skills complemented each other, and it was going really well. And then, as we know, Covid came around and ruined everything.
>> Isha Vela: So, what was your business at the time?
>> Angela Merzib C: It was branding and web design and marketing. So she was okay piece of things, and I was the branding and design and strategy and stuff like that. So we really complemented our skills, complemented each other really well. And I had been looking for a business partner for, like, five years, and she came along. She was great, great fit. And then things went sideways during COVID because our clients were getting shut down, and so. Oh, advertise, Right. They could not run their ads. They were like, well, nobody knows what’s happening now, so we’re all. We’re going to save our money. Right. And so we had no clients. And, also, unfortunately, at that same time, she was getting divorced and going to be a single mom, so she’s like, I need the stability of a job again. I can’t do this anymore. Yeah. And so I was really heartbroken. Like, I really was, because it was like. It was like a relationship ending, you know? Like. Yes. Yeah. One that I had been looking for for such a long time. And she was such a great fit, great person. I learned a lot from her. We grew a lot. Like, it was so good. And then.
>> Isha Vela: Oh.
>> Angela Merzib C: I just. I, almost want to cry when I think about it, because it took a while to get over that, actually.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: Here we are. So I thought, well, what kind of bullshit is this? Like, I understood her needs. That wasn’t it. Like, what kind of bullshit is this that people are just getting shut down, told they cannot make a living, they cannot put food, food on their table and feed their families and their whole blood, sweat and tears that’s gone into their businesses that they have created is now just like gone in the blink of an eye. Just. Yeah, because of some legislation that, you know, changed overnight. So, I was really. I remember during that time, it was a very confusing time for a lot of us. And I just felt like something weird is happening right now. Like, I feel there’s a whole lot of going on. I don’t know what’s real, what the hell. So I remember just kind of throwing up my hands and I was like, please, I just want to know the truth. I just want to know the truth. And then I, it’s like I heard this little voice, and it was like, okay, but I hope you’re ready. Kind of laughing at me. And I was like, whoa, what was that? What was that? And that’s when everything just started pouring in. My, I went to, a cafe with my friend who was visiting. She lives in another city about three hours away from me, and she was here. And I was like, let’s go out to eat. And she. We’re like, blah, blah, blah, blah, talking about normal stuff. And then all of a sudden she just stopped and goes, did you know that, your birth certificate is actually a bond? And it’s. It was created like a corporation in your name and they’re trading you on the stock exchange. And I was like, what? And I’m like, okay, so this, so this opened up a whole can of worms for me. And I was like, I’m very curious person. So I had to go, yeah, look all that stuff up. And it just like everything.
>> Isha Vela: You rabbit holed.
>> Angela Merzib C: Rabbit hole, yeah, totally. And, PMAs came across my desk in some form or fashion. I don’t remember how exactly, but I learned about PMAs and this structure that you can create your own little bubble and operate privately. And, you know, as long as you’re being lawful and conducting yourself with, you know, natural law and common law and do no harm and stuff like that, you basically are left alone. And so I thought, aha, this could be what we need, like in the world to prevent stuff like this going on. so it was from that lens at that time, that like, preventative lens. And now it’s like, well, now I want to shake up, like, this is some going on. And I, you Know, don’t appreciate this world we’re living in and how it’s been structured. And I don’t want any more of this. So now it’s like, this is like our battle cry now. Like, this is how we’re going to protect ourselves because we’re going to be going against these systems and building new ones. And, you know, if you’ve ever read or researched anything about people, like, doing, like, alternative forms of energy or anything like alternative like that.
>> Isha Vela: Yes.
>> Angela Merzib C: Seriously, they are all of a sudden unalive.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah, exactly.
>> Angela Merzib C: I thought, well, this, this will be good for that. And let’s. Yeah, let’s encourage people to bring those ideas forth and start creating and creating that world we want to live in. Absolutely, Absolutely.
>> Isha Vela: Wow. That is like your whole. Your brand is called Be Bold Branding. And I’m like, I’m just having this moment where you’re like, that’s bold. That’s bold. That you’re like, no, this is what I’m going to do now. I’m going to focus on, like, helping people, you know, get PMAs and do it right and. Holy.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah. And that was before I named my company before that named it right before I. I teamed up with that business partner. So it’s always kind of been my way. I hate bullies, you know, like. Yes, like, that’s.
>> Isha Vela: You’re a righteous person.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah. And I. I mean, my. My mother was my first bully. She was a narcissist. Right. And so, yeah, that’s how she dealt with me. And, you know, we’ve. I’ve since confronted her with it and I’ve made peace with it and I don’t hold any grudges because that’s, you know, I had to. I had to deal with that and I had to work through. Through that because it was only holding me back. Right.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: you know, I did confront her about it, and she has changed over the years. but that was def. That was my first, you know, first memories as a kid growing up.
>> Isha Vela: Hey, real quick, before we get back to the episode. You keep saying you want an indigenous matriarchy now, and I believe you. And it’s going to require a relationship with money that’s of kind, completely outside of the TRADFI model and a body that’s mapped to ecological systems. So I made something for that. Flow is a matriarchal money masterclass followed by five emails over five days each, providing you an internal shift and a concrete action step to match it. It walks you through the somatic and ancestral patterns running the show and the structures that let money move through community. Instead of stagnating in scarcity, by the end of the week, you’ll be moving money like a matriarch.
>> Isha Vela: So find the link in the show
>> Isha Vela: notes, sign up, and flow will come straight to your inbox. Okay, let’s get back to it.
>> Angela Merzib C: Narcissism and narcissistic abuse. And, I really. I hate, hated bullies. I always was on the side of truth. I just, like, that’s the hill I die on. And.
>> Isha Vela: Right.
>> Angela Merzib C: bullies at school, I grew all at once. Like, I’m not a big person. I’m five. Five. And. But for some reason, I just shot up. And my kids doing the same thing just shot up all at once. And so one time in the schoolyard, this kid was like, oh, hey, teacher. And I was like, oh, he thinks I’m a teacher. And I was like, I might use that. I’m gonna use that. So. So I’d go, I love it. Commanding kids that were being nasty to each other. I was like, no, no, no, no. That’s not gonna fly around here. Get out of here. Right.
>> Isha Vela: You became the schoolyard monitor. I love it.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah. So I just. I. I say I bullied the bullies. Like. Yeah. I didn’t. I did not like that. So. Yeah.
>> Isha Vela: That’s incredible. That’s incredible. I know. Yeah. It’s like, often, like, you know, we. We grew up in specific environments, and it just kind of primes us to sort of be a certain person in the world. And of course, there are, you know, the. The challenging, shadowy aspects to what we grow up with. And there’s the light qualities. Right. Where we’re, like, in. Yes. Like, I. I am now sort of protective of people in this specific way, and I protect people from the bullies. And, you know, so I. I always. I love the story behind it because there is always. I find a connection. one thing that I’m really curious about is, like, I’ve heard a lot, and I have not. I’ve done, like, the. This. The rabbit hole. But I still have trouble understanding, like, private versus public and this distinction. Right. Like, we’ll get into the whole natural law. Right. Go. Common law. Sorry, Common law. But, yeah, help me understand or help us all understand. Private versus public.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah. So, So things like, in the public, you are. So I like to explain it. Like, it’s like a child mindset versus an adult mindset. So in the. In the public, you’re asking for permission, you’re begging for your Rights or you have, you have privileges. Actually you don’t have rights.
>> Isha Vela: Right.
>> Angela Merzib C: M. You have statutory legal privileges.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: Don’t have natural rights. Right. So you’re kind of, you’re exchanging your natural rights for privileges which are man made. So it’s like public is like man made and private is like natural law. Like do no harm. Like the golden. Yeah, like common sense stuff.
>> Isha Vela: Okay.
>> Angela Merzib C: You know, so it’s like man’s law versus natural law. It’s permission based versus I am my own. Yeah.
>> Isha Vela: Am a sovereign being sovereign.
>> Angela Merzib C: Right. Yeah. That’s the basic difference.
>> Isha Vela: Okay.
>> Angela Merzib C: so in the private, you’re not, you’re not begging for anything. You are the creator yourself. You’re not looking for big daddy government to come save you. So you really got to put your big boy pants, your big girl pants on, right. And be, you know, self governing, responsible honorable, all those things. M M. There’s nobody’s coming to save you and you’re not looking for handouts. You’re saying I am competent. Because like when you, even when you hire a lawyer that’s on the public side, you are basically saying I am an incompetent fool and I am a ward of the court and therefore I
>> Isha Vela: need this person to represent me.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah. I need someone to represent me. Right, Right. So you’re giving away your rights to this bar card holder who has taken several oaths to uphold before he has taken any oaths to you. So he’s has to uphold his bar card. He’s called an officer of the court. He has to uphold the court. He has to, you know, do what they. The duties to the court first. Yeah, he has to uphold, you know, his duties to himself as his business. And then you. So you’re like fourth on the list.
>> Angela Merzib C: Because you’re saying I cannot. I’m. I’m a minor. Basically, the, the system keeps you as a minor child.
>> Isha Vela: Yes. It is infantilizing.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yes. So what you’re doing here on the private side is you’re saying, no, I can govern myself full grown grown. And And yeah, so that’s the basic difference.
>> Isha Vela: Wow, this is really like when I, I mean I had, I only learned about PMAs when I met you. And so I really, I’m new to this. I, I’d done the whole rabbit hole thing a couple of years ago around the whole birth certificate thing, but I didn’t understand how it tied into business and taxes. Like we have to have a conversation about taxes. so tell me about the. Let’s let’s go deeper into the PMA now because I, I, I want to understand sort of like the process of setting it up. But I’ve seen recent content of yours that it’s like how you operate is where the real, like where the real stuff happens.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah. So there’s a bit to setting it up because like I say, you become your own sovereign nation. If you think about a nation, there’s a lot of setup that goes in.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: Right. So you do have founding paperwork. So that is part of it. So you need to have a, ah, written constitution. So that’s like your administrative process.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: need to have articles of association. So that’s like your principles, your ethics, your leadership. you have to have an autographed. And that’s another, that’s a private word. So a public word for that is signature. So the private, it’s called an autograph. Okay, Autograph. Member agreement. So stating what they’re agreeing to. Right. What, what kinds of conduct they’re agreeing to, what the rules are. what can, you know, how m, what happens if they break the rules? How does that work? Things like that have to go into the agreement and they have to autograph it. and they can’t, they can’t access services. They shouldn’t be able to access services before they become a member because that’s. So you don’t want to cross the line between public and private. Private. So you do have founding paperwork, but like as you saw in that post, it is about, it’s not just about doing the paperwork and then doing whatever the hell you want. Right. You’ve got to abide by it and you’ve got to, make sure you’re not crossing into, into the public. So an example of that would be if you have a brick and mortar business, you can’t just have your doors open to the public. It has to have some signage saying private members only, coming in off the street. Have to show you their card or whatever it is. They’ve scan something or they have to be verified in some way that they are a member, that they did sign that agreement.
>> Isha Vela: Oh, okay. So a member would be a client.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yes. So there’s, yeah. So the, the wording is different, right? Yes, Members are, yeah, your clients. A client is a public word. Member is a private word. And I have a whole, whole list I could give you.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: Words and that, that becomes part of it. Like you’re, you’re, so it’s not a contract, it’s an agreement. Okay. So writing your agreement in the, the wording of the. The private language as well. Yeah. You’re not blurring. Like, if, if you ever get into some kind of legal thing where the courts, you know, some. Somebody takes you to court, which your members sort of waive that as part of. You can’t. You’re. Because you’re supposed to be self regulating. Self.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: adjudicating. So, but if a member gets kicked out for violating the agreement, you know, and he. And there’s a case in Canada like this, it’s an Ethiopian. Ethiopian church, where they violated the agreement and they got removed from the congregation. And then they took issue with that, so they went to court and the Canadian Supreme Court said, well, we can’t get involved in private contracts. So you agreed to that. That happened. So, you know, we can’t do this. Yeah, we can’t do this. So.
>> Isha Vela: Wow.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah. So that’s kind of the first steps, is creating all those documents and.
>> Isha Vela: Right. So you have to really live. You have to live them. how in your experience, like, how complicated has it been to abide by them? Like how, you know, when. When a member comes to you and say, I want you to do my branding or I want you to do this or help me out or coach me. How challenging has it been to bring in. Bring people into your sovereign space and help them understand. There’s like a whole mindset shift and, like, of understanding, what’s going on.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah. And to. To be honest, I’m not a PMA yet. I’m still creating my founding paperwork.
>> Isha Vela: Got it.
>> Angela Merzib C: The Sacred Rebellion and Be Bold is not a pma.
>> Isha Vela: Got it.
>> Angela Merzib C: So you, in order to create a pma, some businesses, it doesn’t work for. Like if you have to be open to the public, like a grocery store or something like that. I mean, okay, Costco, people think of Costco. It’s not quite. It’s a membership association, but it’s not a private membership association.
>> Isha Vela: Because they got it. Yes.
>> Angela Merzib C: And you can just walk in and get a membership. Right. So some businesses, it doesn’t make sense for. For Be Bold. It doesn’t make the best sense because I sort of work with a client once on a big project, big rebrand. Right. And then there’s not much else because I don’t do marketing anymore, just the branding. So there’s not much else. We work on together, maybe something down the line or whatever. So it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense for them to become a member but if you like, for your community that you’re launching, it makes sense because it’s an ongoing relationship. Yeah. So I haven’t created my PMA yet. but what was your question? How, how hard is it to abide?
>> Isha Vela: Yeah, because I, I have Mycelium, which is a non profit because of how the money moves inside. Right. We decided like based on the kind of leadership we want and how we want money to move. That would be the best, model. But I also have the Wealth Ecology Institute, which is like a more educational. I want to run summer camps. I want to basically, I actually do want to start a sovereign nation, like on the ground with land. So that feels like a very much aligned model. yeah. And it’s when you file paperwork, for example, do you have to file that paperwork in, you know, where you, where you reside or is it where you have citizenship? Like, how does all of that come into play?
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah. So the question about filing. That’s an excellent question. And that again, that we are so ingrained in the public side. There’s no filing because who are you filing with? You’re not asking permission, you’re just.
>> Isha Vela: Okay.
>> Angela Merzib C: You are just creator.
>> Isha Vela: okay.
>> Angela Merzib C: So because PMAs, they go back, like the history of these, like they can be traced back to ancient Greece. Like these. This is before corporations and. Yeah. How we did things.
>> Isha Vela: Oh my gosh.
>> Angela Merzib C: And this comes from British common law. And it, was brought over. Yeah. To America. And so this is how we did things before there was corporations and s Corps and LLCs and all that. This is how it worked. And it’s still around today. It’s just not being used or not being taught. so there’s no filing of anything. You, you keep your paperwork and you govern yourself. and it is upheld by international law as well. because there’s, there’s many layers of law. Right. It’s, it’s a hierarchy. And so like up here, there’s natural law, divine law, whatever we want to call it, equity, trust law, common law, which is what we’re used to in the courts. And that’s what came from England. International law, law, merchant commercial law, statutory law, the federal and provincial and state law, and then the corporations and stuff. And then of course, we as a citizen are way at the bottom of that. So what we’re doing is we’re taking ourselves from down here and we’re going up here to natural. Yes. With this.
>> Isha Vela: Yes.
>> Angela Merzib C: Right.
>> Isha Vela: This is. When you said this is the old way, I just felt that recognition in my body because H. Because a lot of the stuff I do with Mon with money is like coming back, come going back to ancestral ways. Right. Of commerce. And so this is just. I just felt the resonance of that of like how that matched up. Like, I felt that coherence in my body. And, I’m so here for that. Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: The future is ancient. That’s one of my favorite.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: How we need to operate, I think. I mean not everything was great in, in ancient times, but there’s definitely certainly some things that we’ve left behind that we should never have.
>> Isha Vela: Right. This is like putting the wrapping it in that modern consciousness. Right. Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: I think we can take great things from every Iran. You’re on epoch of history. Yes. Yeah.
>> Isha Vela: Beautiful. And so if I were to do this with the, with the wealth, Ecology Institute, I would just create this paperwork and then start operating.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yes. And get your members to agree.
>> Isha Vela: So when you say get your members to agree, what does that process look like?
>> Angela Merzib C: It’s just, it can be online. Like everybody’s different. some clients that I’ve done their branding for them, they’re part of their customer journey or actually be member journey, would be. They wanted a physical autograph. So that was just them. If they were brick and mortar, you know, that makes sense. But if you’re serving members all over the world, you would just set up some kind of portal that you can capture their autograph online and keep records. That’s the other thing. The courts want you to keep your records if anything ever happens. And the idea is to never go to court really, because you’re not really in that public sphere anyway. But in the rare case that a member would leave and that’s the only way that a member could take you to court, they couldn’t be a member anymore because you can’t have one foot in public, one foot in private. And so you do want to keep your records. So it’s just getting an autograph just like you would for anything. Yeah. Public and keeping a record of that. And okay. You know, you do also have to have meetings. So you have to be meeting regularly. You have to show your operating as like, yes, I have members. We meet regularly. Which you will be. Right. and also, ah, an AGM every year to keep yours up updated about what’s going on and keep the minutes of that. So you do. There is some work to it, but just like any business.
>> Isha Vela: So your, your members with sacred rebellion would be the people inside of your community.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yep, exactly.
>> Isha Vela: Okay. Okay. All right. Okay. And so everybody that I’m serving. Let’s say. Let’s say I’m running a summer camp for kids. So the parents would all be on a meeting.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yep. Yeah. Like, eventually, like, you don’t have to hold it if it’s seasonal. I don’t believe you have to just have it, you know, just because they’re, I don’t know. I’m. There’s so many nuances. Like that’s.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: Why. Yeah, it’s. It’s tough to know every single situation. but that’d be something I’d have to think about. but definitely once a year. And then, you know, people don’t have to attend. But it’s, you know, good to have forum. Right. So, yeah, you put that on annual general meeting, you make the minutes, you keep that on record. and. And all the member agreements on record so it. You can show how you’re operating. Right. Come up. Right.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: So. But as far as seasonal stuff, I’m not really sure. Sure. I’d have to think about that one.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah. Because it’s like, even if it didn’t happen until the winter or whatever, you know, you still have their contact info. They could come back then.
>> Isha Vela: Right.
>> Angela Merzib C: Have to happen. Right. When they’re members.
>> Isha Vela: It’s. It’s an interesting question.
>> Isha Vela: Right.
>> Isha Vela: Because if you have a membership, it makes sense. Right. The members are already there. Right. And present. But if you have a, ah, member that comes into one summer camp and decides to never engage in. In your, you know, PMA again, they’re gone. But you can still invite them to the, to the annual or seasonal meeting. They may not come, but at least you invited them.
>> Angela Merzib C: Exactly. And like, I know in the states they have dry counties, so that meaning they, replaces. You can’t serve alcohol. And I know. And that like, this was something during the prohibition, that happened too. There’s private member associations that happen. So the, drink the booze. Right. So.
>> Isha Vela: Oh, that’s so. Okay. So those examples just really actually clarify.
>> Angela Merzib C: I just think that I’m gonna make one of that tomorrow, I think.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah, it just kind of clarifies it really brings it home. Sort of like, oh, this is what it is. Right.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah. So, Yeah. Because they made that illegal all of a sudden overnight. And so, even in these dry counties that exist today in the states, you sit down at the bar and the. They give you a little card to sign and then you’re good to go. So you may never see that patron again.
>> Isha Vela: Right.
>> Angela Merzib C: How they get around that? Yeah.
>> Isha Vela: Okay.
>> Angela Merzib C: Happening right now too.
>> Isha Vela: That is fantastic. This is just, ah, very nourishing. And, and let’s talk about. Because you are your own little jurisdiction, let’s talk about how that impacts taxes.
>> Angela Merzib C: Taxation. Yeah. So that is a little tough one. So, like in when Canada, where I’m at, you are, you’re like nobody even knows you exist really because you’re, you’re not filing right, you’re not incorporated.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: And that’s, that’s just it. It’s like, it’s like if you’re born and you didn’t have a birth certificate, who knows if you exist. Right.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: So, and you’re viewed, if you know, you’re viewed as a benevolent association. So that comes with like tax exemption. Right? Basically. Okay, so you don’t have to pay taxes in Canada because you’re, that’s how you’re seen. in the States it might be a little different. And I’m not 100% clear on this, but you could. So it depends. So with a PMA, you can layer in other things like a 5008 1A, I think it’s called designation, which is an unregistered charity. So with that designation you could become tax exempt.
>> Isha Vela: Okay.
>> Angela Merzib C: also you can wrap these things in private trust. So there’s different ways to do things. It just kind of depends where you are and what you’re, what you’re doing and where you’re setting this up kind of thing.
>> Isha Vela: and you have to, I’m hearing that you have to set it up where you are a citizen.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah, it makes the most sense because like you already have some tax obligations somewhere, wherever that may be, even though you’re. I know you’re nomadic, but you probably have a home base somewhere.
>> Isha Vela: Not really. Well, well, I, Yes, I do have a. My, my finance business is based in the U.S. yeah, but that’s separate from the Wealth Ecology Institute. That’s not the same business.
>> Angela Merzib C: Okay. That’d be something I might have to talk to my mentors about because I’m still, still figuring a lot of stuff there to figure out with this kind of thing.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah, I bet there is.
>> Angela Merzib C: You have to have a really curious mindset too, to do this because it’s not that it’s not. No one’s coming to save you. No one’s coming to counsel you. You can’t hire a lawyer. They don’t know about this. They’re in the public. Right. Lawyers aren’t going to help you with this like other professionals. They’re on the public side. They’re not going to help you with this stuff. So you have stay up to date and your curious and you have to
>> Isha Vela: work with people who have gone through the process themselves.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah. And are keeping up with it because things are changing. Like one of the talk to her yesterday and she said I think something’s changing with trust law in Canada. That even private trust now they’re targeting those because they just want their grubby paws on everything. Yes. So you have to keep up with that kind of thing. But to answer your tax question, you, you can create very favorable tax situations for yourself but it might involve doing some other things.
>> Isha Vela: Got it. Layering.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah. Layering for me, I’m not a PMA yet with Be Bold or with the Sacred Rebellion. I’m building that one. But I did. It’s, it’s the boring work. I’m not gonna lie. I read the Income Tax act of Canada. Yeah. And I, I mean with some help. Like I was helped along by someone who had been doing this for 40 years. But if you look in the Income Tax act in Canada, sections 3F I believe it is talks about private property and how private property is protected in Canada. And so if I’m remember how I said that words have meaning, they mean something in the public. And so the word for income that has a definition in their tax law because I’m not using their public entity that they created for me with the birth certificate, which is the social insurance number, which is another business identifier number. That’s what that is. And so I’m not using that because I’m self employed. Nobody is employing me. I don’t have an employer. I don’t get a T slip at the end of the year. Right. Yeah. Then that is my private property. And so I write to the CRA every year that I do my, I file my taxes. It’s all zeros down the line. Yeah. I’ve made money but it’s all zeros because it’s not income. Right.
>> Isha Vela: Oh wow.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah. And I write a line that says basically I have exchanged my time, efforts and energy for a non refundable bank of Canada notes which does not constitute income. Here’s my tax return. Thank you very much. I sign it and every year they just say you oh nil. And that’s the way it goes. So.
>> Isha Vela: Wow.
>> Angela Merzib C: To do that. And yeah. And I tell people, I’ve told so many people to do this and nobody has taken me up on it. Everyone is too scared But I’m like, here I am, guys, I’m not in jail. I’m not Right?
>> Isha Vela: Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: You have to do the work and you have to know how to defend yourself. Why are you doing this? You can’t just willy nilly go doing things and not understand them. So that’s what I mean about putting your big girl pants on.
>> Isha Vela: Yes. There’s a lot of responsibility and, and due diligence in educating yourself and being in integrity with what is written in your documents.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yep.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: And knowing why, why does this work? You know what is behind this? This.
>> Isha Vela: Yes.
>> Angela Merzib C: That I’m able to do this and be able to.
>> Isha Vela: And there’s, there’s something very important in what you’re saying that I, that I, when I think about sort of the psychological and embodiment aspects is that there’s a maturation process. Right. When we, when we put our big girl pants on, it’s not kind of like, okay, well they’re on. All right, good. No, there is an arc of transformation that goes. Because we are infantilized in this, in our, in our relationship with our government.
>> Angela Merzib C: Right.
>> Isha Vela: With our respective governments. There’s in fact. So we, there’s a maturation. Right. So that we have to do. We have to travel the journey of becoming that sovereign being. That’s a whole identity shift, right?
>> Angela Merzib C: Yep, absolutely. And the number one thing, the reason why I show them the proof, I show them the letter that came back from the CRA, I show them the section 3F and the tax code and I teach them everything. The number one reason they don’t take action and this is how they get us, is fear. You have to get over your fear. Yeah. And that’s the only thing they have on us. So that’s the difference between the public and the private is like, we govern ourselves because we’ve done the inner work. We want to create this world of peace and you know, and cooperation and collaboration.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: They just rule with fear and punishment and that kind of thing. Right. So it’s getting over that fear. And once you do one thing, you’re like, wow, when I, that was the first thing I, I did in this space.
>> Angela Merzib C: I was like, I’m gonna do this. I, I just learned this. I’m gonna, I’m gonna try it. What’s the worst that can happen? They can slap me with a bill. Right. In Canada, you can’t, they can’t put you in jail for financial stuff.
>> Isha Vela: Okay.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah.
>> Isha Vela: So what is it in the States that they put you in jail?
>> Angela Merzib C: Well, if you we remember Al Capone. They. They got him, right?
>> Isha Vela: Okay,
>> Angela Merzib C: Okay, for tax stuff, not. Not for what he was doing, but for tax stuff. But yeah, you have to get over that fear. And once you do that and you see you have some success, you’re like. It just boosts your confidence and you’re like, yes, yes, I can do this, right?
>> Isha Vela: I’m free.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah, I’m free. And I can be my own sovereign person. Then you want to start doing what I’m doing. Open all the cage doors for everybody else. But,
>> Isha Vela: wow, this is incredible. This is incredible. I. I learned so much today, and I. I want to just ask you, be. You know, be. As we wrapping up, like, is there anything that we, I know there’s so much to this. Right. We could spend hours, but is there anything that, you know, we didn’t touch on that is really important for people to know who are curious about sacred rebellion or who are curious about this process for themselves?
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah, Well, I mean, there’s lots to learn. That’s why we’re creating the community. That’s why I’m going to have other expert guests on as well, because we all kind of come at it from different angles. We all, you know, I. I love to collaborate with people and I. I love working with people that have that mindset. So I really want that space to be that. And, I just want people to be free and out of this system that we’ve been. That’s been created for us. Like, and I think we can be. And we just need. We need the right tools. We need to collaborate together. We need to use our. Whatever our area of brilliance is, and, just unleash that. And hopefully with these kinds of tools, we can create an environment for ourselves where we’re more protected and able to do that. Yeah.
>> Isha Vela: Ah.
>> Angela Merzib C: Because I think we’re down. I mean, we’re down to the wire now. Like, what’s the news story heard today? Oh, AI is going to, like, kill us all now. Did you hear that today?
>> Isha Vela: Right, right.
>> Angela Merzib C: Okay. So.
>> Isha Vela: Exactly. That is. That isn’t. If that isn’t permission to do whatever the you want. Yeah.
>> Angela Merzib C: So it was like, what. What’s the worst that can happen? Like, honestly. Because here we are. Everything’s going to hell. So, hey, let’s try.
>> Isha Vela: Hey.
>> Angela Merzib C: Exactly. We’ve been sitting here, we’ve done the old thing.
>> Isha Vela: We followed the rules. Yeah, we followed the rules and ourselves.
>> Angela Merzib C: And we need a new plan. So, yeah, let’s get busy. There’s no more time to waste. And we got to come out of the woodwork here and do something different. Just create the world we want to live in. So that’s, that’s my vision. yeah, sounds lofty, but I’m not doing it alone. Right. I’m just, yeah, I’m just sending the call out and I don’t have to have all the answers. That’s the lovely part about it.
>> Isha Vela: I love your approach. And I’ve just been. Yeah. Since I met you, I’ve been this kind of like. More. More like tell me more. So I’m so glad, I’m so that, I’m so glad that we had this conversation and I feel so much clearer and I know that whoever’s listening just feels so much clearer about what this process looks like and what is possible with it. Like it’s just a game changer. Just even just the mindset shift of like, oh yeah, there’s this whole, there’s this whole other world, like we don’t really know a lot about. And that is, it is a whole other world. It is a little, It’s a layer. Right? It’s a layer of consciousness.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah, yeah, it is. And it does take that shift in consciousness. So that’s going to be part of my community as well. Because you know, you, you can do shady crap with something like this. I mean, it’s like a tool. Like any other tool.
>> Angela Merzib C: I could chop up a nice salad or I could stab you in the heart with a knife. Yeah, like, exactly. It’s just like that. So it does take, you know, a shift in consciousness. which I hope. I mean, I kind of feel like things are shifting in that direction anyway. So. Yeah, hopefully that’s a wave we can ride into the future. We’ll see. Amazing.
>> Isha Vela: Yeah, so let people know where they can find you, where they can find Sacred Rebellion.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yeah. So if you go to the Sacred Rebellion co, I have a website there and there is a wait list up on that site right now. I’m hoping to launch maybe mid October. Not exactly sure yet. I just have to figure a couple things out. But there’s quite a few people on the wait list now. So yes, please do go check it out if you’re interested. And yeah, bring your, bring your high vibes and your great ideas. We need you, we need everybody on this asap. New world.
>> Isha Vela: Yes. And people can find you on Instagram as well and look at your content.
>> Angela Merzib C: Yes. Yeah. be bold. Branding is so that’s my other business, the ah, branding and design business. So, I just kept that name. I haven’t created a sacred rebellion. Instagram. Not sure what I’m going to do with that yet. I kind of just started this Instagram posting challenge and things kind of blew up for me. So now I’m like, yeah, I noticed. Yeah. So it’s been fun. It’s been really good to get me out of my little shadowy corner as well. So, yeah.
>> Isha Vela: Amazing. Amazing. Angela, thank you so much. It’s been an honor and a pleasure.
>> Angela Merzib C: Oh, thank you, Isha. Thank you for having me. It’s always good to talk to you. And I wore my animal print because, you know.
